GUERNSEY will hope that their talented youngsters can fill a significant void as they begin their EH Vase campaign with a trip to Winchester this weekend.

The Sarnians, who were beaten semi-finalists last season, have since lost key names Laura Sharrott and Chloe Dawes from their squad, although Felicity Renny has returned from university.

For this particular match, they are also without the holidaying Laura Webber, injured Lizzie Stonebridge and West of England-bound Danielle Jones.

But with teenagers including Aisha Damarell and Frankie Stewart continuing to progress, captain Emma Atkinson, pictured, remains confident of a successful season.

'Our aim is once again to try and win the Vase, which I believe we are more than capable of,' she said.
