White collar brigade prove a very big hit
WHITE Collar boxing is here to stay.
WHITE Collar boxing is here to stay.
That should be the cold light-of-day conclusion after a highly successful debut in the island at the St Pierre Park Hotel on Saturday night.
The ONE2ONE promotion went down a bomb in front of a near full house and a string of bouts which had the mixed audience off their feet and drowning out the piped false-crowd noise drifting through the loudspeakers.
With top island boxers such as Matt Jennings and James Woolnough sitting ringside as judges, and the vastly experienced and still sprightly Gerry Walsh impeccably overseeing proceedings in his role as referee, the nine-bout show made all the hard work of Paul Wickham and his team more than worthwhile.
Anyone who feared a string of fancy-dan contests fit for comparison with Strictly Come Dancing and with little or no action, saw those concerns quickly allayed.
