HAVING entered with high hopes, Guernsey were left disappointed after falling at the group stage of the British Indoor Open cricket competition in Derby last weekend.
Lee Savident had expected his side to be challenging for the title, but in a reduced group of three teams, they finished bottom of the pile in dramatic circumstances.
Despite finishing level on points with Derby Cobras, the Sarnians lost out on run difference, having also been level on skins won with the UK team.
All three sides, the other opposition being Nottingham, picked up two wins and two defeats apiece in the group, which was changed after the withdrawal of Risley, but Savident was not too despondent.
