Guernsey 19, Old Elthamians 18

GUERNSEY kept their home crowd on the edge of their Garenne Stand seats on Saturday, but at least they sent them home happy.

In truth, it was a deserved victory, but the margin was just too close for comfort in a game in which the hosts enjoyed the better of the exchanges for arguably an hour of play.

However, after being comfortably ahead at half-time, five minutes into the second half Guernsey suffered three major blows within the space of a few seconds as both Tom Pool and Nick Barton left the field due to injury and the next play brought Old Elthamians the first of their two tries.

It took them a while, but Guernsey regrouped and held on to secure another valuable win in National Three London & South-East.
