'THE best Christmas I've ever had,' said Becks O'Keefe with a Welsh sparkle in her eye.

She had just received, free of charge, a brand new, sparkling white Hyundai i10 emblazoned with her name and her job title, that of table tennis development officer.

Not far away Jason Shambrook, the cricket equivalent, was transferring his cricket equipment from his old sponsored car into the new one, while Steve Green, the new athletics development officer, Gary Roberts of the Guernsey Football Association and squash coach Martin Watts were already away in their new identical vehicles.

All thanks to Barras Car Centre who, for the last eight years, have been helping island sport in their own unique way, by providing cars for sports development officers.

Martyn Torode, dealer principal of Barras Car Centre, said it was 'partly a personal thing, partly business'.
