THE spirit of a centrally-based Team Guernsey will again be evident at next summer's NatWest Island Games in Bermuda.

It is now just over seven months until the Sarnians travel across the Atlantic to defend their title as top team at the Games and arrangements are being finalised.

Pleasingly for the 150-plus Guernsey competitors, everything is on course to come in slightly under the £2,000-per-person budget estimated in mid-2011.

The whole team will be staying at the five-star Fairmont Southampton for the week-long event in July, something that pleases Guernsey Island Games Association president Dave Inglis.

'Except in Aland in 2009, we have been based in one location and we have found it works really well that way,' he said.
