IT WAS a memorable summer for golfer James Hamon.

Sometimes it is easy to forget that he is still just 17, having been one of the established names in island golf for a number of years already, but the plus-handicap continues to improve and he notched up several notable achievements in 2012.

He retained both the Guernsey and CI junior titles, but surpassing that he enjoyed a superb week in July at Royal Cinque Ports in Kent as he finished ninth in the Carris Trophy English Under-18 Boys' Championship over 72 holes.

Hamon, pictured, carried that form through into August when he produced his best round at his home course, equalling the L'Ancresse course record in the morning round on his way to a brilliant Le Riche and Tradesmen's Cups double.
