THERE has been strong online criticism of the Combined Counties League after the recent announcement of Guernsey FC's rearranged spring fixture list.

The Green Lions will now face 18 games in 57 days through March and April to complete their Premier Division season.

Because of the reluctance of some clubs to travel to the island in midweek, most of those will now be played on a Friday evening or Sunday afternoon at Footes Lane.

But, despite that decision by CCL fixture secretary Alan Constable looking like the obvious solution, there has been a mixed response from club officials, on both Twitter and the Non-League website forum.

The most outspoken have been Cove, who face GFC away on Sunday 3 March, the match put back 24 hours to accommodate another match on the Friday.
