GUERNSEY got their year under way with a deserved if ultimately slightly disappointing victory on Saturday.

The home side dominated the first half at Footes Lane and never looked in danger of losing to the side two places above them in National Three London & South-East, but coach Jordan Reynolds could not hide his frustration at being unable to clinch the four-try bonus point in a scrappy second half.

'We played really well in the first half and at half-time we talked about coming out in the second and doing the same, but we let a few mistakes creep in and I think tiredness came into it too,' Reynolds said.

'Hands down, we had them across the park and our backline looked really good in the first half, yet in the second half we let ourselves down a bit.'
