THE thought of playing for a 'potentially great' Guernsey FC team is driving Ryan-Zico Black forward in his recovery from a double leg break.

The influential 31-year-old Green Lions' midfielder suffered the setback in November's FA Vase win over Erith Town and initially feared he could be out for at least a year.

But eight weeks on and the 2011-12 GFC supporters' player of the year is progressing well and is already more than 50% weight-bearing on the right leg that suffered a snapped tibia and fibula.

Although he is still some way short of being able to run again, Black remains hopeful that he can return in time for pre-season training ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.
