GUERNSEY are out to give their own fans plenty to cheer when they host a rare home match in the Investec EH Women's Vase tomorrow.
As the second part of the national knockout double-header weekend at Footes Lane, the Sarnians take on Wokingham in the third round and cannot wait to run out in front of the expected large crowd.
'Playing at home is massive for us,' said Guernsey captain Emma Atkinson.
'The support for the men's homes games in the past have always been very vocal and supportive, and fans have ranged from the young children who train on a Sunday morning all the way through to the elder statesmen and women who used to play for Guernsey way back in the day. It does create a fantastic family friendly atmosphere.
'It also means we can show our fellow hockey players and other islanders what we can do in a national competition, rather than going away and having to just report back on the important parts of the game.'
