THIS weekend a group of the islands' top distance runners take to Parliament Hill in London for the rescheduled South of England Cross Country Championships.

Included in the travelling party is Louise Perrio, pictured, who will be looking to challenge at the front of the senior women's race after a successful winter over the country and, more recently, the road.

Perrio's rich vein of form extended to last weekend's Chertsey House five-mile race, in which she eased away from Ben Wilen to win in a time of 29min. 47sec.

Wilen crossed the line some 12 seconds behind, with James De Garis rounding up the top-three for the L'Ancresse to Town course in 31-18.

Despite producing solid performances thus far, Perrio goes into the Southerns buoyant but wary of the unknown.
