HEATHER WATSON fought back from a set down yesterday to force her way into the quarter-finals of the US National Indoor Championships in Memphis.
World No. 68 Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic won the first set 6-2 before the Sarnian, ranked 27 places higher, hit back to take the second 6-0 and she wrapped up the match by winning the third 6-3.
Watson faces Stefanie Voegele, the world No. 89 from Switzerland, in the quarter-finals today.
However, Watson and partner Marina Erakovic are out of the doubles.
