THESE are golden days for senior Guernsey distance running and at no time is it more apparent than on inter-insular cross-country day.

Yesterday at a perishing Footes Lane was no different.

GIAAC completed 1-2-3s in both the senior men's and women's races and, despite some fine running by the Jersey Spartan junior contingent, the home club won the bulk of the team and individual titles at stake.

The finish of the day came in the under-13 boys where Alex Rowe had provided GIAAC with a fine individual victory, but Jersey were threatening to take the team trophy by virtue of their solid packing behind Rowe.
