Davidson to the fore as Greens come on strong

A FIVE-TRY second-half display from Guernsey saw them pull away to a hard-earned victory over Thurrock at Footes Lane.
After neither side had been able to stamp their authority on the first half, which resembled an arm-wrestle with much of the play confined to the middle of the park and the only points coming from the boots of the kickers, the home side managed to produce some effective and at times flowing rugby to claim maximum points.
Admittedly, Guernsey's cause in the first half had not been helped by the loss of influential scrum half Malcolm Barnes to injury after only 17min.
By that point, the game had seen Thurrock take an eighth-minute lead through the impressive kicking of Frankie Neale, who launched the ball considerable distances with the smoothest of kicking styles.
