The Sarnians lost a 5-4 thriller at Les Quennevais, after paying the price for a nightmare spell immediately after half-time which saw them concede three quick goals as Jersey turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead.
Player-coach Andy Whalley revealed that eradicating those lapses has been a major part of Guernsey's preparations this time around.
'Last year we were bitterly disappointed,' he said.
'We dominated for large spells of the game but had a 10-15min. period when it all went a bit wrong. We lost our shape, lost our discipline and they scored three goals.
'We are a little bit more experienced, we are a better squad this year, our players are playing well and we have been working on making sure that we are much more consistent throughout the whole game.
