THE first events of the 2013 Specsavers Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club got under way this week with some exciting swimming and two records being set.

The first record and fastest time of the day overall in the 50m freestyle went to Miles Munro in 23.64sec. breaking his own record in the 16-and-over age group, which previously stood at 24.28.

The fastest time of the day from the girls came from Courtney Butcher in a brilliant swim in the 14/15 age group, as she broke the record to set a new mark of 27.22.

Also finishing inside the previous record was Annalise Munro in a great time of 28.28.

Annalise then went on to record the fastest time of the day in the breaststroke, just taking the touch from Butcher in a time of 37.02, with brother Miles the fastest again for the boys in breaststroke in 33.79.
