Steve Dawes gave the island men's squad an early advantage, but a mile into the second of the two-mile-long stages on the picturesque Stonecrusher course at L'Ancresse, Rowan Axe flew past Will Bodkin and went on to put the talented mix of Mick Woods-trained St Mary's University and Aldershot athletes into an unassailable position.
They ultimately won by a wide margin, while the Guernsey quartet, with Michael Batiste and Mike Wilesmith on legs three and four, safely secured the runner-up spot from the Team Thomas mixed squad.
Fourth finishers were the all-women's Great Britain squad which was brought home by Steph Twell and, on the final leg, Hannah England, who made her first appearance of the weekend.
