JOHN MCDONNELL chalked up his second straight win with a strong finish to win the annual Keith Falla Memorial Cross-Country at L'Ancresse.
The St Mary's athlete clocked 24-02, a minute slower than Lee Merrien's full course best, but in the wild and very chilly conditions of Saturday morning it was another strong and impressive effort from the 21-year-old, who is clearly coming into form with the track season beckoning.
McDonnell again let Neil Renault make the early running as the field headed out towards La Fontenelle Bay and then on to the Fort Le Marchant headland.
But by the time the leaders hit the finishing straight at Lucksall, McDonnell was showing his 1,500m speed and had pulled 18sec. clear of the 2012 winner, Rowan Axe of Cardiff AC and St Mary's.
