THE unlikely title dream at the Corbet Field lives on for at least another few days – but barely.

Vale Rec were just 9min. away from surrendering the Priaulx Cup once and for all to Bels, until a hotly-contested penalty was awarded and captain Damien Larkin kept his cool for the yellows.

Suddenly, another win over St Martin's tomorrow night and all roads will lead to the Track a week today, when the top two will battle it out with the place at the summit of local football potentially on the line.

But to overturn Bels on that occasion, Rec know they will need to improve significantly on this showing, when they came dangerously close to a fatal stalemate in a game high on tension, but minimal in excitement.
