THE chance to play at 'hockey's equivalent of Old Trafford' is at stake on Sunday when Guernsey host Andover in the Investec EH Women's Vase semi-final.

After reaching the final in their first campaign in the competition two years ago, the Sarnians lost to holders Oxted in the semi-finals last year and are using that defeat as added motivation this weekend as they look to book a trip to finals day at Beeston Hockey Club in Nottingham.

'The Beeston men's team have actually won the England Premier League this year and at the weekend got to the last eight of the Euro Hockey League, which is the equivalent of football's Champions League,' said Guernsey women's team captain Emma Atkinson.

'The club is a big club in hockey terms and their facilities are first-class so you know that finals days will be a brilliant day out.
