NIC POTHAS has given another warning that reputation counts for nothing under his new regime.

The new director of cricket has chosen rising youth stars Jason Martin, Jordon Martel and Matt Stokes in the 13 players named in the GCB Chairman's squad for the first competitive domestic match of the new season, the Dave Fisher Memorial Trophy match against the Guernsey and CI champions Miton Optimal on Sunday.

'The reason for this is that these kids are our future and will be the near future,' said Pothas, the former Hampshire and South Africa wicket-keeper.

'They are knocking on the door and knocking hard,' he added.

Pothas has driven a hard regime since taking over at the start of the year and is keen that no player assumes that their place is sacrosanct.
