Tomlin so glad to be tricked

THE pressure is always on Verona Tomlin to perform because, in local terms, she is that damn good.

Last weekend, MVP for the rampant Guernsey women's basketball team against Jersey, all winter long the difference between title-glory and glorious failure for Resolution IT in the best Division One netball title chase for many a long year.

But if anyone in domestic women's sport seems capable of coping with expectation it is Tomlin, pictured, the wife of former Guernsey Commonwealth games swimmer John Tomlin, and now teaching science at La Mare High.

She is a class act and her shooting for 'Rezzers' this winter has been decisive, as has her experience and leadership.
