GUERNSEY were the victims of a cruel smash-and-grab in Wakefield on Saturday.

The Sarnians were robbed in the EH Trophy final by Chris Marchant's golden goal 4min. 18sec. into extra time after totally dominating the regulation 70 minutes.

Even Lewes captain Matt Clark seemed suitably embarrassed in his post-match interview, admitting: 'It was pretty lucky in the end to come through an amazing game of hockey'.

He quickly added, 'congratulations to Guernsey for a fantastic effort', as he genuinely acknowledged that the runners-up had deserved so much more out of the game.
