JUNIOR golfer Jeremy Nicolle mastered the tough conditions with an outstanding afternoon round to retain the Brymay Cup on Saturday.

Following a net 77 in the morning of the prestigious 36-hole inter-club competition, the six-handicap was 20th at the halfway stage in his title defence at L'Ancresse with Elliott Corbin having posted a first-round best of 71 net.

However, after lunch, Nicolle, pictured, went 10 shots better than his opening round to storm up the leaderboard and claim top spot by four strokes.

In the strong wind, the teenager's second round started with a couple of bogeys, but he claimed those shots back with back-to-back birdies on the fourth and fifth.
