Panthers aim for first rung on national league ladder

GUERNSEY PANTHERS face a make-or-break qualifying tournament on Sunday as they look to enter the UK netball league pyramid for next season.

The newly-formed club have always stated their desire was to follow in the footsteps of both their football and rugby counterparts, who are enjoying considerable success.

Panthers are looking to start that as soon as this coming September, assuming they can negotiate a five-team round-robin event in Aldershot this weekend.

They must finish first or second in the table to be awarded entry to South Region Division Three, which includes eight teams and is played on a home and away basis.

MK Netters, Eagles U19, Shooting Stars and Gurnard stand in the way of Guernsey hopes, with joint-coach Gill Queripel confident that her side can achieve success.
