ONE of the most sought after T20 specialists in world cricket has been persuaded to play in the third edition of the Clydesdale Guernsey Premier League, which gets under way at Port Soif on Friday week.

Hampshire and former England all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas is the player in question and his capture is a direct result of his friendship with Guernsey's new director of cricket, Nic Pothas.

'The guy's a gun for hire,' said Pothas, who played alongside him in the Hampshire side for years.

Confirmation of his appearance for the Mourant Ozannes franchise in Guernsey over the two-weekend festival of big-hitting at the home of Rovers AC means Mascarenhas will add a 10th team to his profile on worldwide cricket sites such as ESPNcricinfo.

Topping the list is England followed by the England Lions and Hampshire, Kings XI Punjab, Melbourne Stars, Otago, Rajasthan Royals, Rangpur Riders and Wellington.
