A BRILLIANT birdie blitz helped Tom Pattimore cause the biggest shock of this year's Intertrust Island Men's Championship last night when he knocked out Bobby Eggo at L'Ancresse.

Pattimore, who is only a couple of years out of the junior ranks, took a nothing-to-lose attitude into his clash with the top seed and it paid dividends, despite the 10-time winner's best efforts at producing one of his legendary birdie-birdie finishes which would have taken the match into extra holes.

The pair were all square at the turn before a par for the youngster at the 11th was good enough to edge him ahead.

He immediately gave that hole back after a rare poor strike saw his tee shot on the short 12th end in thick rough, which prevented him reaching the green in three with his opponent safely on the putting surface.
