STEPH TWELL is among a string of international athletes confirmed for next month's big Intertrust Golden Meeting, the high point of the domestic track and field calendar.

The event on Saturday 15 June will also feature the vast majority of the island's elite athletes, although there remains a doubt as to whether Olympic Games marathon runner Lee Merrien will be recovered from stomach surgery in time.

Dale Garland will be on show in a one-man mini decathlon, the event he is returning to in an attempt to qualify for next summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, while Tom Druce, the island record holder over both 100m and 400m is planning to run over both 200m and 300m against a quality imported field.

The strength of the meeting, which also includes a 12-strong Royal Air Force team, will be in the middle and long distance events to reflect the current strength of distance running in the island.
