TOM DRUCE laid claim to the island 200m record at the Hampshire County Championships over the weekend and in doing so made himself the sole owner of the island's senior men's sprint records - ranging from 100 to 600 metres.
Druce, who placed second in the 200 with a time of 21.50sec. behind Basingstoke's Dean Showler-Davis, also placed second behind the same man in the 100m with another fast time of 10.71, making the prospect of him running quickly over his preferred distance of 400m in the coming months a real possibility.
Young Katie Rowe also had a successful weekend in completing a middle-distance double in the under-17 women's 800 and 1500 metres, while her father, Alan, bagged a surprise bronze medal in the senior men's 5,000m at the age of 47.
Under-17 Sam Wallbridge revised his own island age-group record for 400m hurdles, clocking 56.10sec., as well as taking gold in the flat 400 the following day in 50.86sec.
