AIMEE PONTE emphasised last night that it will take an exceptional performance to prevent her retaining the Intertrust Island Women's Championship this week.

Rosie Scott once again drew the short straw of having to face the teenage starlet at the start of her title defence at La Grande Mare and could only manage to prolong the match as far as the 11th.

Another home player, Helen Banks, is the next obstacle for Ponte to overcome after the multiple LGM women's champion came through a tough battle with another promising youngster in Megan Graham.

Banks had reached the turn two up, but missed a chance to extend that lead on the 10th where she missed a short par putt.
