Of the 17 chosen, seven will be Games debutants and with the announcement comes confirmation that a host of star names will be missing from the Sarnian ranks.
Tom Druce, Dale Garland, Lee Merrien, Kylie Robilliard and Louise Perrio are all absent, while Emma Leask is competing for her home Shetland Islands.
Guernsey Island Amateur Athletics Club president Alun Williams has defended the choices of those top competitors not to compete and at the same time, dampened any unrealistic expectations across the Atlantic in July.
