THE champions and their star man Dimi Mascarenhas flopped with the bat as BDO and Ravenscroft Warriors booked their places in the Grand Final of GPL III with a qualifying day to spare.

In front of the best crowds yet in three years of the Guernsey version of the various national T20 tournaments around the globe, BDO stood out with two wins out of two, while the Anthony McGrath inspired Ravenscroft Warriors won two from three to guarantee their place in the final next Saturday.

But the main talking point, other than the class shown by the likes of former Yorkshire and England player McGrath with both bat and ball, was the demise of Mourant Ozannes, hotly-tipped in many quarters to complete a hat-trick of titles.

But, without injured all-rounder Lee Savident to steady the batting and Mascarenhas unable to let loose with the willow in hand, Mourants wasted winning positions they had got themselves into.
