History repeated in the De La Rue
IT WAS a case of deja vu on Sunday as L'Ancresse retained the De La Rue Shield off the back of a foursomes whitewash.
IT WAS a case of deja vu on Sunday as L'Ancresse retained the De La Rue Shield off the back of a foursomes whitewash.
Last year's annual first-team clash had seen the Royal Guernsey Golf Club trail 4-0 at lunch and lightning struck twice as they suffered the same fate at the weekend.
L'Ancresse put their island pairing of Steve Mahy and Jamie Blondel out first and they were taken to the 17th by father-and-son combination David and Jeremy Nicolle, but the Guernsey regulars came through 2 and 1.
Behind them, Jack Mitchell and George Melhuish saw off Sean Mills and Tom Le Huray while Colin Bourgaize and Tim Carter edged out Nigel Vaudin and Bobby Eggo in a match that went the distance.
