Dave Hooper lifted the Guernsey Premier League trophy for BDO after beating Ravenscroft Warriors with four balls to spare at Saturday's final.

In strong Port Soif winds and on a pitch seeing its third game of the weekend, it proved to be a low-scoring thriller as BDO passed the Warriors' 130 with six wickets in hand.

The two stars of the show for the new champions were professional Joe Gatting and 17-year-old bowler Jordon Martel, who must surely have done enough to get himself in the Guernsey squad for next month's ICC European T20 Division One Championships.

Martel's returned figures of three for 15 from his four-over spell, along with Kris Moherndl, stifled the life out of the Warriors in the early stages.

Tim Ravenscroft's team recovered to post that 130 for five and when they reduced BDO to 23 for three, it looked as though it could be match-winning – until Gatting produced a batting masterclass.
