BRITISH Cycling has been given another pointer to the potential of Guernsey riders with a superb triple triumph at the national 25-mile time-trial championships.

Staged on a far from quick Ponteland course in Northumberland, Karina Bowie, Dan Alderton and Sophie Dorey all came away with age-group titles.

Guernsey Velo Club president Gary Wallbridge described the multiple triumph as fantastic results and singled out Alderton for particular praise after he clocked 57min. 32sec., to be top under-16 and fourth junior overall.

'That was a good result by Dan and a really significant achievement, as he was beaten only by 17 and 18-year-olds,' said Wallbridge.
