RAF running star Ben Livesey nearly claimed a new Father's Day Half-Marathon record yesterday, on a weekend of new best performances across three big athletics events.
After Livesey had eased to an impressive and easy victory in 66min. 47sec. he said: 'It would have been great, if Lee Merrien had been fit, to have run with him,' said the multiple inter-services champion.
'I was hoping for someone to run against because it would have tested me.'
Livesey used to be part of the now disbanded 201 Squadron (Guernsey's Own) and he revealed that it was good to get the chance to return to the island.
'Last time I was here was 2009 just before the squadron disbanded. It's nice to come back to Guernsey and see people on the island.'
