COMPETITORS gave the inaugural Reservoir Speed Event a big thumbs-up in St Saviour's on Saturday.

The 600-yard course attracted a full entry to the Guernsey Kart & Motor Club's Forest Road Garage-sponsored event, including a good contingent from Jersey, and as the packing up began at the end of the day, drivers and riders hoped that they could return to the venue in future.

'It is completely different to anything else that we do and it's really fast,' said Jon Robilliard, one of the sports libre saloons rally cars competitors.

'The club have done a great job in putting this on and if they could do it again, brilliant.

'If it doesn't prove to be possible, though, it has been great for a one-off.'

As expected, Darren Warwick clocked the fastest time of the day and he echoed Robilliard's sentiments.
