Woodhard makes his picks

ISLAND golf captain Julian Woodhard has announced his three wild card picks for the inaugural new golfing major - the Ravenscroft Guernsey Open Matchplay.

And all three are younger players Woodhard wants to see pushing hard for a place in the senior island team to play Jersey in September.

The Ravenscroft Matchplay is the richest competition in the island's golfing calendar with 16 of Guerney's top players vying for the trophy and a first prize worth £500.

Woodhard's three wild card choices are all bang in form and the non-playing island captain has high hopes for the trio, Tom Le Huray, Tom Pattimore and Luke Blondel.
