ISLAND champion James Hamon has moved into strong contention for the Credit Suisse Trophy off scratch at the halfway point of the 72-hole event at L'Ancresse.
And so, too, has the defending champion, Jamie Blondel, who shot the lowest gross score of day two, a two-under 68, to haul himself back to within four of the lead in the scratch stakes.
Blondel had opened up on Tuesday with a disappointing gross 77, but yesterday he was one-under through the turn thanks to a three at the fifth.
He started the back nine with another birdie three at the 10th and, although he handed it straight back at 11, another birdie followed at 13 and he parred his way in for a net 66 which gives him a decent chance with two days remaining.
