SATURDAY'S Sand Ace Championship is set to be the best yet, according to Anthony Bougourd, a member of the organising committee and the architect of the first of the big annual meetings in 2006.

'It looks like the best line-up to date, with a dozen of the top UK 1,000cc grasstrack and speedway sidecar teams competing for the 2013 British Championship,' he said.

'Reigning sidecar champions Rob Wilson and Terry Saunters will be fighting hard to retain their title, but they will have serious competition from some of the best in the UK, Europe or indeed, in some cases, the world.

Grasstrack speedway sidecars are powered by 1,000cc superbike engines running on methanol and produce power of up to 180 BHP.

At last year's Sand Ace they were 'speed trapped' at 95mph as they entered the corners drifting sideways, so look out for some spectacular action from this class.
