HEATHER WATSON will have to overcome America's great new hope Madison Keys if she is make her mark at this year's Wimbledon.
The 21-year-old Guernsey girl and British number two yesterday found out her first obstacle at the year's penultimate Grand Slam and, while it could have been far tougher, it could also have been easier.
Keys is still only 18 but has dramatically risen to world number 53 in recent weeks, four places higher than Watson. Among her notable scalps is Chinese star Li Na.
Despite her tender age, Illinois-born Keys has been around for a while now and first rose to prominence as a 14-year-old, when she defeated the legendary Serena Williams.
This is her first Wimbledon in the main draw, though, with her overall Grand Slam record being indifferent, although she did reach the third round at the Australian Open this year.
