Ballot hands title to Danny

DANNY WARWICK is king of the Vazon beach once again - but this time in rather unusual circumstances.

The 2012 Sand Ace champion, which doubles up as the 500cc solo British championship, was well on course to repeat his feat from last year as he cruised to victory in his opening two of four heats on the west coast.

But with only half of the race programme complete, disaster struck and an abandonment was forced after two major accidents on the extremely wet and windy circuit that bore the brunt of the wintry June conditions.

It meant that the 'big three' of Warwick, Rodney McDonald and, arguably, the event's favourite, Andrew Appleton, were all level at that point with a perfect record from their two heats.

McDonald and Appleton were Vazon debutants, the latter being the really big draw.
