Newey celebrates call up with magnificent hundred

OLLIE NEWEY celebrated his call-up to the Guernsey squad in the best way possible - with a brilliant match-winning century for Cobo over Miton Optimal.

The defending champions posted 258 from their 50 overs and that looked to be a few runs short on a decent KGV surface, especially when Newey got going.

He carried his bat for an unbeaten 138, the first time that he has reached three figures in local cricket since coming to the island.

'I was delighted to be called up to the Guernsey squad, obviously, and then to go out there today and do okay was great,' said Newey.
