HEATHER WATSON made a first-round exit at Wimbledon yesterday as she was beaten 6-3, 7-5 by the American 18-year-old Madison Keys ranked 52 in the world.
The first round draw could have been kinder to Watson as American tennis has been getting very excited about the rising star Keys, who has been described by commentators as the biggest talent to come out of the US in the last 10-15 years.
After the match Watson was reflective.
'She served well. I knew going in it was going to be a tough one – and it was,' said the British No. 2, who struggled with Keys' kick serve throughout.
