ISLAND champion James Hamon will play another of the island's most talented juniors in the first round of the inaugural Ravenscroft Guernsey Open Matchplay to be played at La Grande Mare next week.
The unique tournament features 16 of the best players throughout the island including, for the first time, club professionals from the Royal Guernsey and St Pierre Park clubs.
In terms of prizes, the event is the richest in island golf with the winner collecting a prize to the value of £500, as well as the cut-glass inscribed trophy.
The tournament will be extensively reported daily by the Guernsey Press sports team in the paper's 200th anniversary year, starting with this Saturday's strokeplay qualifier at La Grande Mare when the final four places in this historic competition are there to be won.
