A HIGHLY impressive Myerscough College got off to a winning start in the 450 Festival by comfortably defeating hosts Elizabeth College yesterday.

The school from Lancashire, which runs a specialist cricket academy within, had too much for the Guernsey lads at the College Field from the moment they went on a late batting spree, eventually winning by 62 runs.

In fairness to Elizabeth, they battled hard and indeed only decisively lost one quarter of the match, that being the second half of Myerscough's innings.

Having bowled well to restrict the visitors to just 109 for two after 25 overs, Myerscough made their wickets in hand count.
