ELIZABETH COLLEGE got off the winning mark in their 450 Festival with a tight 17-run win over Melbourne Grammar School's development team.

Alex Bushell was the college star with a magnificent 65-ball 82, coming in at number six, that held together an otherwise poor batting display that collapsed to 163 all out inside 34.2 overs.

But on a slow College Field pitch, that proved enough as Toby Belton ripped through the Melbourne order with four wickets and with his side ahead on D/L, the teams were forced off by rain.

They did return and Melbourne looked on for a brilliant win, but some heroics by the tail were not quite enough to see them home.

n In the day's other game, Myerscough College edged a thriller against Melbourne's first team, creeping home by two wickets in another low-scorer at Port Soif.
