A FINE unbeaten innings from Andrew Clark ensured a nervous Elizabeth College just got over the line against Melbourne Grammar School in the 450 Festival.
Having bowled well to bowl their Australian visitors out for just 131 well inside of the allocated 50 overs, the College lads were well set for their second victory in as many days, having already beaten the Melbourne development XI.
But they made it difficult for themselves, slumping in the middle of their innings and with just four wickets remaining, still needed in excess of 40 to win. However, the seventh wicket partnership of Clark and Dom Rice came at the perfect time, both playing beautifully to bring the target down to single figures with some glorious attacking strokes.
Rice was clean bowled for an excellent 19 by Tom Collins and suddenly nerves started to kick back in, with some nervy running between the wickets from Clark and Tom Nightingale.
