HOPES are high of Guernsey medal success as triathlon makes a return to the Island Games in possibly its best surroundings yet.

The Sarnians are sending a team of eight to Bermuda for the first event of the entire Games, taking place in the early morning a week tomorrow.

With the sport being one that regularly finds itself chopped from Games schedules, 2013 and then 2015 in Jersey provide a rare opportunity for back-to-back entries, as Guernsey Triathlon Club president Mark Naftel explained.

'Triathlon hasn't been held in the Games since 2007, so our competitors have been looking forward to this for quite some time,' he said.

'What it does mean is that we don't really know the ins-and-outs about the strengths of the other islands going, but we are not too worried about that.'
